Blogging

blog it

I have been reading lots of articles about blogging over the past few days. Trying to find out ways to improve my blog. And to find what people consider makes a good blog.

I had to question why I have a blog and why it is important to me. I think mostly for me it is reflection on life, a place to share my creative pursuits, a place to meet and share with like minded people, to develop friendships and to help my wandering children to keep in touch (now if only they would start their blogs)

What did I find in my research? There is a wonderful article by Skelliewag on finding good photos for your blog, I now understand the different types of creative commons licenses on Flickr. There are also some very good articles on Blissfully Domestic on blogging that I am still working my way through. This site is written by group of women and they have a large amount of well-written articles on many different topics that are worth reading.

I will continue to research as blogging is very important to me and it is funny but the school that I work at is know as the ‘blogging’ school.

A Swap of Photos

June 20, 2008

I took part in a swap, this time photos. It is being run by ‘Nectar and Light’ and there is a different theme each month. For the month of May the topic was ‘burr’. My photo is of the lemon tree early one beautiful Saturday morning, the light is so lovely at that time of the day.

There are some amazing photos in the swap. The theme for June is light; I read the blog recently of a new comer  to Canberra. She finds the clean, wide blue skies a thing of wonder and finds herself standing and looking up. I can remember doing that after we came back to Canberra after living in Boston. There was a brightness and brilliance in the light.

Edited: It was funny this morning driving to school, there was a very heavy fog and it lasted until about 9am. I was wishing that I had my camera with me as the sunshine was breaking through the fog, it  was beautiful.

As you know I love reading “The Happiness project” which often leads to a lot of thinking. This morning I was talking to someone about happiness and he stated that you have a right to be happy, that all of your relationships should be working fine and that they should not make too many demands on you. Years ago we tried our hand at being  Amway sellers, Graham’s dad was in it and he really wanted us to be part of his network.  It failed miserably on our part, as we did not want to sell to other people but one of the hardiest things that I found was finding out about people’s lives. These people up to this stage had just been people that we knew, not close friends. All of a sudden you were thrown into the deep end knowing about their relationship with each other etc., knowing the ins and outs of their lives; to me this was too hard. Knowing about these people but having no real relationship with them. It seemed as too many steps had been left out and that you were not ready to be this involved in their lives.  While on the other hand, there are people that you are close to and while they are not prefect (who is) you will do anyhing for them, you will take the good with the bad, because that is just what you do. I hope that I am making sense, what I am trying to say to love someone is to love them faults all all. Why this post, because I knew that I disgreed with what this person said but I did not have the words to say it. Now that I have had time to think about it I would like to discuss it more.

Anyway I want to share this lovely photo of Liv with you. She is five now and the most amazing things come out of her mouth, It is a wonderful thing to have a grandchild their perspective on life is very fresh and true.
