I have been reading lots of articles about blogging over the past few days. Trying to find out ways to improve my blog. And to find what people consider makes a good blog.
I had to question why I have a blog and why it is important to me. I think mostly for me it is reflection on life, a place to share my creative pursuits, a place to meet and share with like minded people, to develop friendships and to help my wandering children to keep in touch (now if only they would start their blogs)
What did I find in my research? There is a wonderful article by Skelliewag on finding good photos for your blog, I now understand the different types of creative commons licenses on Flickr. There are also some very good articles on Blissfully Domestic on blogging that I am still working my way through. This site is written by group of women and they have a large amount of well-written articles on many different topics that are worth reading.
I will continue to research as blogging is very important to me and it is funny but the school that I work at is know as the ‘blogging’ school.

Yesterday I was reading a post from ‘My Words’ and she has had her blog made up into a book. It looked really lovely. This is such a great idea, it is a way of keeping the memories alive. I started my blog back in April 2005, I have been writing it for such a long time. For many of those years it was purely devoted to digital scrapping and my obsession with it. I now view it as a way of keeping and sharing memories with friends and family. An added bonus about keeping a blog is the new people that you meet and get to share yours and theirs ideas and experiences with.
Now I need some help. Penny(my daughter) an aid worker in Sudan and soon to be in Liberia wants to start a blog and numerous times we have discuss the name for it. She said to ask you for some suggestions; as I want to register her name as a domain name. Her experiences are just so wonderful and she is a gifted story teller, so I would really like her to start one soon.

It has been pouring rain all night and while it is just beautiful to have all this rain, it makes living conditions very sticky. Last night I gave up trying to cope with it and turned the air conditioner on, it made a more comfortable night. Our dams are slowly improving and it was stated on the news last night that they average 28% full, we now have eight months of water. If we had water tanks at the house they would well and truly be filled by now.
I watched TV last night as I was embroidering my tea cosy, it just reinforces why I don’t watch much television any more. There really was not much on after the 7.30 report and I ended up watching a crime show. It was really disturbing and rather scary. I am really glad that my daughter didn’t watch it as she would have had nightmares. I wonder what effect it has on people that watch it all the time? Do we begin to believe that criminal behaviour is the normal way to behave? Does it desensitize? When my other three children were growing up, their TV watching was limited, they had to nominate the TV shows that they wanted to watch and we usually watched them with them.
This is a photo of the beautiful teacosy that Mary send me from Texas. There is a tale attached to my one that I am going to send to Mary. I decided that I was going to knit one and I found a lovely pattern on the internet. I started it while watching the tennis. I got a little way along with it over a couple of days. Then one day I left it sitting on the longue, Molly took a liking to it and the next time I went to knit it was gone. She did a good job on it. I am now sewing one….it might be a bit late Mary.

I love Friday night, it feels although this week has been very long. I am slowly settling into my new school. There are more people interested in computers at this school, so I have like-minded people to share my love with. The teacher who teaches second grade is extremely good and loves doing computer related things with her kids. At the grand age of seven they know how to blog, make podcasts and voice threads. They could teach me a thing or two.
I have changed a few of the photos on my header bar and I will finish the rest tomorrow. I had a wonderful surprise this afternoon there was a parcel waiting for me, it was my tea cosy swap from Mary in Texas. I will share photos with you in the morning, I am off to bed.

I have been wanting to change my blog name for a while. I did not feel that it was correct to keep calling it ‘SandraBoddingtonDesigns’ when I do very little designing anymore. I had also been wanting to change my host, which the change of name allowed me to do.

Why Molly and Coffee? Our new puppy is called Molly (a black labrador) and I usually start my morning with a cup of coffee ( a latte) . This is the only coffee that I have all day and I love to have it while sitting at my computer checking e-mails and blogs. By this time Molly has already been for her walk and the poor baby is tired, so she is asleep at my feet. My favourite time of the day.
