This was an easy one to do, I think to a certain degree every mother, parent or person does it. When things become too stressful you try very hard to detach yourself. One of these times in a parent’s case it is saying ‘goodbye’ to your children as they go off on their adventures or saying ‘goodbye’ to grandchildren or aged parents. I think to keep your sanity you have to have those moments of detachment , of turning off. In my case it is often daydreaming or watching people.

Yes. It’s the same for us ‘pet moms’, too. My dear old lab is showing his age and I am trying to detach a bit to prepare myself for the inevitable. Detachment is hard, sometimes. Great post!
It is hard to detach… to leave a baby at daycare… or even Sully at the groomer. You have to put it out of the mind and keep working so as to not remind yourself. Thanks for coming back by my little space on the web.
You are so right. We need to do something, or we’d crumble into a giant heap of nothing. Self preservation. This is a lovely and emotional drawing. Well done.
what a great illustration and post. yes, the ability to detach or to realize you cannot fix anything for anyone, but be there just to love them is the healthiest thing epople can do for each other.
have a wonderful day!

Ooo..you must have read my mind about stressful times. Thanks for visiting my blog. Lovely to see your work.
The mother’s expression is heart-rending and makes me think of my own mother’s often difficult life. One of her favourite (New Yorker) cartoons, which I also cherish shows a mother sitting on the floor with leaning against the kitchen sink with a blissful smile on her face and staring into space. The one child says to the other: ‘Mother’s found inner peace’.
Thanks for visiting my blog and for the nice comment- I really like your version as well:) Scooter
